International Women’s Day 2021

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8). On this day it is especially worth stopping for a moment to honor the achievements of women throughout history and all across the globe, regardless of their origin or cultures to band together to fight for gender parity and women’s rights.

Last year the theme of the International Women’s Day was #EachForEqual and this year it is #ChooseToChallenge, which focuses on emphasizing the importance of taking an active part in counteracting prejudices and fighting misconceptions in the interests of creating a more gender-equal world.

Currently, despite the fact that 43% of managerial positions are held by women, only one in five of them is on the management boards of companies. The wage gap is still noticeable and women earn, on average, about 11.5% less in the same positions despite higher education. This is why it is so important to pay attention to these inequalities so that we can constantly fight them.

According to the United Nations, International Women’s Day started in America in 1909, when the Socialist Party of America took to the streets to honor garment workers who had protested against inhumane working conditions the year before. They called it National Women’s Day, and it took place on February 28. The following year, the Social International established Women’s Day in Copenhagen to celebrate those working for women’s rights and universal suffrage.

We want to acknowledge all the valuable contribution of women to business and we belive that together we can create an environment free from prejudices.

Happy women’s day!
